Stephen Dezzi Named All-American for Second Straight Season
MARSHALL, Minn. - University of Tampa senior outfielder Stepen Dezzi earned a spot on the 2015 Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II All-America baseball team, marking the second straight season as an All-American for Dezzi.
A total of 49 student-athletes, representing 40 institutions were named to either the first, second or third team All-America squad, while 15 were named honorable mention.
Junior pitcher Reese Gregory from St. Cloud State University (Minn.) and junior catcher Will Albertson from Catawba College earned the the Ron Lenz Pitcher and Player of the Year awards respectively.
Dezzi, a senior from Sarasota, Fla., led the Spartans to their third consecutive NCAA South Region championship after leading UT to the National Championship Series as a junior and senior.
He was honored as a third-team selection in 2015, as his career accolades include a pair of all-Sunshine State Conference honors and the 2014 Daktronics South Region Player of the Year. He was also a finalist for both the Tino Martinez and Josh Willingham Awards.
As a senior, Dezzi is hitting .333 with a team-high 14 home runs. He also leads the team with a .472 on base percentage and has totaled 45 RBI, 47 runs, 49 hits, four doubles and a triple.
The D2SIDA All-America and All-Region baseball teams are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and pro- grammable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association. Daktronics has sponsored the baseball All-America program since 2007.
