
J.D. Osborne Earns SSC Offensive Player of the Week Honors
The junior third baseman led the Spartans to a three-game sweep over Catawba.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – University of Tampa baseball junior J.D. Osborne has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the period spanning April 4-April 10, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Osborne led the No. 6 Spartans in a series sweep over the No. 23 Catawba College Indians. The Whitby, Ontario native hit .500 for UT in the three-game set. Osborne recorded seven hits, with seven runs scored and five runs batted in. He also added a triple and two long balls in the series. The third baseman slugged at a .875 percentage and had an on-base percentage of .667. His best game was in the series finale where Osborne went 3-for-4 with a home run.
Osborne helped the Spartans improve their record to 28-6 and are currently on a six-game winning streak. The team will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Boca Raton to take on the Lynn Fighting Knights. The game Friday is set to being at noon, and the doubleheader Saturday is scheduled for noon.
