Spartans Welcome University of Southern Indiana for Weekend Series
The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Southern Indiana Eagles for a three game series starting Friday.

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa baseball team will host the University of Southern Indiana Eagles in a weekend series.
The Matchup: No. 2 University of Tampa vs. No. 23 University of Southern Indiana
Date/Time: Friday February 17th at 6 p.m., Saturday February 18th 12 p.m., and Sunday February 19th at 12 p.m.
Location: University of Tampa Baseball Field | Tampa, Fla.
About the Spartans: After winning the series against the Georgia College Bobcats, University of Tampa is 5-1 on the season. The Spartans are led in batting average by Kevin Santa with .480 after going 7-14 with one home run for the weekend. Andrew DiLaqua and Adrian Chacon also top the batting averages charts, with .444 and .381, respectively. The pitching staff is led by junior Garrett Cave who has a 1.00 ERA and made an appearance for 4.2 innings, only allowed one hit, and struck out five hitters. Jordan Leasure joins him with a 2.08 ERA, pitched for 3.2 innings, and recorded two strikeouts.
About the Eagles: This series against the Spartans is the opening to the Eagles 2017 season. USI went 38-21 in their 2016 campaign after finishing their season at the 2016 DII Baseball Championships. That was their fourth appearance in the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship and their 12th appearance overall in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles finished tied for fifth after going 1-2 in the championship series.
Series History: Tampa owns the all-time series with a close 3-2 overall record. The last time the Spartans saw the Eagles was in the 2015 season where Tampa won the series 2-1.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
