Spartans Defeated by Phillies in Exhibition Game
The University of Tampa baseball team battled the Philadelphia Phillies in an exhibition game for the third year in a row and were defeated, 6-0.

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team took on the Philadelphia Phillies for the third year in a row and fell to the Phillies 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Phillies were first to score in the first inning as Roman Quinn hit a single up the middle and stole second base. After, two sacrifice flies, Quinn gave the Phillies the lead 1-0.
- In the bottom of the third, Quinn homered to right field to give the Phillies another run, 2-0.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Alfaro doubled to right center. Numata came in to pinch run for Alfaro. Then, Gomez singled through the left side, scoring Numata and making the score 3-0 heading into the top of the fifth.
- The top of the fifth brought 2 runs for the Phillies as Crawford walked and Cozens homered to center field, making the score 5-0.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Phillies picked up another run that would make their runs 6 to the Spartans 0. The Phillies went on to win the exhibition game, 6-0.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Drew Burkhart registered his first hit as a Spartan after singling to center field.
- Adrian Chacon was the other Spartan to have a hit as he singled down the left field line.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This was the third exhibition matchup between the Phillies and the Spartans, the Phillies now leading the all-time series, 2-1.
