
Spartans Set to Host Blazers
The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Blazers of Valdosta State University for a Tuesday evening game.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Valdosta State Blazers for a Tuesday evening matchup.
The Matchup: No. 2 University of Tampa vs. Valdosta State University

About the Spartans: After sweeping the series with No. 3 Nova Southeastern, University of Tampa is 19-5 overall and 8-1 in conference for the season. The Spartans are led in batting average by J.D. Osborne with .454 after going 8-15 with nine RBI and three home runs in the series. Kevin Santa also tops the batting average chart with .422 after a 6-14 and two RBI outting against the Sharks. The pitching staff is led by Cheyne Bickel who has a 1.54 ERA and has made an appearance for 23.1 innings. Jordan Leasure joins him with a 2.08 ERA, has pitched for 17.1 innings, and has recorded 20 strikeouts.
About the Blazers: The Blazers are coming off of a series loss (2-1) to Union as they travel to Tampa to take on the Spartans. They are 17-9 overall and are led by Luke Suchon with a .419 batting average. The pitching staff for the Blazers is led by Beau Blair who has a 1.71 ERA, has pitched 21 innings, and recorded 27 strikeouts.
Series History: Tampa owns the all-time series by a 28-20 mark.
