
Spartans Welcome Eagles for Weekend Series
The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Embry-Riddle Eagles for a weekend series.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Embry-Riddle eagles for a weekend series starting Friday.
The Matchup: No. 2 University of Tampa vs. Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Date/Time: Friday March 24th at 6 p.m., Saturday March 25th at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Location: University of Tampa Baseball Field | Tampa, Fla.
About the Spartans: After dropping a game to Valdosta State, University of Tampa is 19-6 overall and 8-1 in conference for the season. The Spartans are led in batting average by J.D. Osborne with .441 after going 1-5 with one RBI in the game. Kevin Santa also tops the batting average chart with .421 after a 2-5 and with one run against the Blazers. The pitching staff is led by Colton Widdows who has a 1.61 ERA and has made an appearance for 22.1 innings. Jordan Leasure joins him with a 2.01 ERA, has pitched for 22.1 innings, and has recorded 24 strikeouts.
About the Eagles: The Eagles are coming off of a series loss (0-3) to Florida Southern as they travel to Tampa to take on the Spartans. They are 9-18 overall and are led by Kyle Guttveg with a .336 batting average. The pitching staff for the Eagles is led by Kenny Burkhead who has a 4.41 ERA, has pitched 34.2 innings, and recorded 36 strikeouts.
Series History: Tampa owns the all-time series by a close 7-6 mark.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
