WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa had four student-athletes honored as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) announced its all-South Region teams on Wednesday ahead of NCAA South Regional play.

Three Spartans were named to the first-team, including David Lebron, Kevin Santa and Vin Cosenzo. The second-team consisted of J.D. Osborne.

Lebron, a junior pitcher from Homestead, Fla., enters the postseason as the Spartans top starter. The Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Year is a perfect 7-0 on the year with an ERA of 2.59. In 83.1 innings, he leads all Spartans with 88 strikeouts.

A senior shortstop from Yabocoa, P.R., Santa is hitting .432 with seven home runs and 36 RBI. After hitting .441 as a junior, his .435 batting average currently ranks first all-time among Spartan career leaders. He was also honored as a first-team all-SSC honoree.

Cosenzo, a senior designated hitter from North Caldwell, N.J., is hitting .362 on the season. He has slugged four home runs to go with 37 RBI as he was also a first-team all-SSC selection.

Osborne, a senior first baseman from Whitby, Ontario, is hitting .381 with 19 home run s and 81 RBI. He currently ranks fifth all-time on the UT single-season RBI list. He was tabbed a first-team all-SSC choice.

Voting for the NCBWA awards are conducted by participating media and sports information members.

The Spartans begin play in the regional on Thursday as they meet Miles College at 4 p.m. The regional is being hosted by top-seed Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.
