
Sharks Leave Spartans Wounded
The University of Tampa baseball team battled conference rival and the defending national champions, Nova Southeastern, in the second round of regionals and were defeated.
CLEVELAND, Miss. - The No. 4 University of Tampa Spartans took on the No. 18 Nova Southeastern Sharks in the second game of the NCAA South Regional Tournament and were defeated by a 3-1 mark.

How it happened
- The top of the first opened up with Kevin Santa being awarded first base after being hit by the pitch. Santa then advanced to second base after a wild pitch was thrown. Laz Rivera grounded out to shortstop which advanced Santa to third base. J.D. Osborne came up to the plate and singled up the middle giving the Spartans the first run of the game.
- The Spartans maintained a one run lead until the bottom of the fifth when the Sharks tied the game. The Sharks scored single runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh while the Spartans remained scoreless, giving the Sharks the victory.

- Osborne went 1-5 with the single RBI of the game
Beyond the Boxscore:
- David Lebron threw a career high in strikeouts tonight with 15 which is the most since Sergio Perez in 2006. Lebron also had a season high for innings pitched with 8.0.
