Tampa Advances To Championship After Win Over West Florida

Tampa, Fla. – No. 1 seed Tampa Spartans advance to the NCAA South Region 1 Championship after beating No. 4 seed West Florida Argonauts.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Drew Ehrhard got the inning started with a double down the left field line. Danny Sirven moved Ehrhard over with a ground ball to the right side. Stevie Mangrum singled to left field scoring Ehrhard. T4 | 1-0 Tampa
• Nick Derr started the inning off with a walk followed by a sac bunt by Danny Blair. Yorvis Torrealba singled to left field bringing in Derr. T5 | 2-0 Tampa
• Danny Sirven got the Spartans going with a double to right center followed by a walk from Mangrum. Cole Perry moved both the runners over with a sac bunt. Sam Freitas hit a sac fly to score Sirven. T6 | 3-0 Tampa
• Blair walked followed by a Nick Detringo single and a Torrealba hit by pitch. Ehrhard walked to score Blair. Sirven singled to score both Detringo and Torrealba. Ehrhard scored on an error off the bat of Mikey Navarette. Perry doubled to left field to score Sirven. Freitas scored Navarette on a sac fly to left field. T9 | 9-0 Tampa
• West Florida scored one on three hits in the bottom of the ninth. T9 | 9-1 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Pimentel earns his 11th win on the year after throwing seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
• Mangrum went 3-3 on the day with one RBI.
• Sirven finished 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
• Torrealba went 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

• The Spartans advances to the NCAA South Region Championship.
