Brandon Knarr Registers SSC Pitcher of Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa ace pitcher Brandon Knarr was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week after the junior from York, Pa., led the Spartans to a Friday night victory over Florida Southern College.
Knarr set the tone for a series victory over rival Florida Southern College in a matchup of Top-5 national teams. The lefty got the nod in Friday's opener and went 7.0 innings without an earned run against the No. 5 Moccasins. The York, Pa., native, allowed just two hits while striking out 15 batters and issuing only two walks. Fifteen strikeouts rank second on Tampa's all-time single-game strikeout list. UT would finish with a team total of 20 strikeouts, establishing a new school record in the 10-1 victory.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 17 - 23, 2020. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
