
Cumbo Named SSC Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa baseball player E.J. Cumbo was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to a sweep over Florida Tech.
Cumbo led his team in hitting with a .538/.528/.923 slash line as Spartans picked up a sweep of Florida Tech. The East Meadow, New York product also had team bests in runs (3), hits (7), doubles (2), home runs (1), RBI (3), and stolen bases (1). At Florida Tech on Friday, Cumbo went 4-for-5 at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring another. The outfielder added a pair of hits, including a double, in the game one victory. Cumbo launched a sixth-inning home run to break a scoreless tie in the series finale and seal the UT victory as the game's lone run.
