#2 Tampa Downs Lynn, Sweeps Season Series

TAMPA, Fla. –  The No. 2 ranked University of Tampa Spartans baseball team swept the season series against the Lynn University Fighting Knights.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Game One Final: #2 Tampa 8, Lynn 4

Game Two Final: #2 Tampa 3, Lynn 2

Records: Tampa 11-2 (10-1 SSC), Lynn 6-14 (5-11 SSC)

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME ONE:

• John Malcom's bat continues to deliver, as he launched a double to right center for two RBI, scoring Jamarcus Lyons and Drew Ehrhard. | 2-0 Tampa
• Lynn scored four times in the top of the second to take the lead. | 4-2 Lynn
• Luke McDonald brought in J.D. Urso on the sac-fly in the bottom of the second. | 4-3 Lynn
• Lyons grounded out to score Ehrhard and tie the game in the bottom of the third. | 4-4 Tied
• The Spartans added three runs in the bottom of the seventh: Dan Sullivan walked to score Mikey Navarrete (5-4); McDonald walked to score Carlos Salaverria (6-4); a Jose Cadenas netted two RBIs in Sullivan and Malcom (8-4). | 8-4 Tampa

HOW IT HAPPENED — GAME TWO:

• Luke Glancy launched a second inning two-run shot that brought in John Malcom. | 2-0 Tampa
• Lynn scored in the top of the fifth. | 2-1 Tampa
• Adam Hunt flied out to the center fielder and E.J. Cumbo scored, unearned. | 3-1 Tampa
• Lynn scored in the top of the seventh. | 3-2 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS — GAME ONE:

• John Malcom continues to terrorize opposing pitchers, hitting 2-for-4 with two RBIs, bringing his season average to .414.
• Two other Spartans hit 1-for-2 and had two RBIs in the game: Jose Cadenas and Luke McDonald.
• Drew Ehrhard hit 2-for-3.
• Jordan Leasure earned his first win of the year in relief, striking out four across four innings of work.

INSIDE THE STATS — GAME TWO:

• Luke Glancy's two run shot brought in two of Tampa's three runs.
• Adam Hunt, a pinch hitter, logged Tampa's only other RBI.
• Eric Linder stays unbeaten, improving his record to 5-0 behind five strikeouts over five innings.

UP NEXT: The Spartans are on the road Friday for the first of a three-game series against the Saint Leo University Lions. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
