Jamarcus Lyons Named SSC Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa baseball player Jamarcus Lyons was tabbed as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to a three-game sweep over Saint Leo University.
Lyons is awarded Player of the Week honors following a .500/.538/1.250 slash line during a three-game sweep of Saint Leo. The Tampa native provided the Spartans with eight runs batted in and three runs scored off of four hits, two home runs, two walks, and two sacrifice flies. Lyons reached base three times in game one from a hit and two walks, scoring once for UT. The sophomore then homered and drove in four runs in game two and game three, powering the Spartans to a series victory.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 19-25, 2021. Athletes are nominated by Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions.
