CARY, N.C. – The No. 5 seed University of Tampa baseball team eliminated No. 8 seed Northwest Nazarene in a loser goes home matchup. The Spartans move on and will face No. 1 seed Central Missouri in the DII baseball championship semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Nighthawks struck first in the bottom of the second inning. | 1-0 NNU
- Sam Freitas singled in the top of the sixth and J.D. Urso scored on throwing error. | 1-1 Tied
- The Spartans tacked on three runs in the top of the seventh: Luke Glancy doubled to center field, scoring Drew Ehrhard (2-1); Dan Sullivan doubled to right center, scoring Glancy (3-1); Urso hit a sac-fly, bringing in Jamarcus Lyons (4-1). | 4-1 Tampa
- Northwest Nazarene scored once in the bottom of the eighth. | 4-2 Tampa
- Lyons scored on the Josh Rulli groundout. | Final: 5-2 Tampa
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Starter Nik Constantakos earned his first win of the year behind a seven-strikeout performance over six innings. He allowed no earned runs and just two hits.
- Luke Glancy went 2-for-5 on the day with a home run, double, and one RBI.
- J.D. Urso hit 2-for-3 including a double, an RBI, and no strikeouts.
- Dan Sullivan's lone hit was an RBI-double.
- Jordan Leasure earned his sixth save of the year, striking out both batters he faced.
UP NEXT: The Spartans are slated for a rematch with No. 1 seed Central Missouri on June 9 at 2:00 p.m EST. Central Missouri holds the tiebreaker after handing the Spartans their first tournament loss on Tuesday. If Tampa wins, the Spartans will play Central Missouri again on Friday to determine the national championship participant.
