Top-Ranked Tampa Completes Weekend Sweep of USC Aiken

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa Spartans sweep the three-game series from the University of South Carolina-Aiken Pacers.

HOW IT HAPPENED: In the top of the first, Jackson Hannon doubled down the right field line with two outs to drive in Josh Sharp. | 1-0 USC Aiken. In the bottom of the first, Dan Sullivan walked on a full count to bring home E.J. Cumbo. Jordan Lala then grounded out back to the pitcher, allowing Drew Ehrhard to score. J.D. Urso capped off the big first inning with a two-run single, scoring Jamarcus Lyons and Sullivan. | 4-1 Tampa. In the bottom of the third, Joel Haney was called on in relief of USC Aiken starter Luke Parker after 2+ innings. Josh Rulli hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Adam Hunt. | 5-1 Tampa. In the top of the 6th, Tampa starter Nick Long was replaced by Eric Linder after 5 strong innings. | 5-1 Tampa. In the top of the 7th, Dalton Ross was called on to relieve Eric Linder. | 5-1 Tampa. In the bottom of the 8th, Adam Krissinger relieved Joel Haney. After only two batters faced, Adam Krissinger was pulled in favor of Dylan Wilhelm. Josh Rulli cashed in a sacrifice fly to right field, driving in J.D. Urso, then Jose Cadenas followed Urso home on a throwing error by the first baseman Nick Tripp on the same play. | 7-1 Tampa. Alex Passarella was called on to close the ninth inning. | 7-1 Tampa Final.
