
Spartans Secure Opener Against the Lions
TAMPA, Fla. – The Spartans take the opener of the series against the Saint Leo Lions.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Haden Erbe found himself in a bases loaded jam in the top of the second. Crail smoked one down the first base line, only to be snagged by Dan Sullivan to save a run and end the inning. In the bottom of the fifth, Jamarcus Lyons led off with triple, and later scored off wild pitch by Beck | 1-0 Tampa. Sullivan contributed with a two out double to left, J.D. Urso drove him in with single. Lyons hit a two-run homerun to left to extend the lead | 4-0 Tampa. Wyman got one back for the Lions in the top of the eighth, with a bomb to left center | 4-1 Tampa. Sullivan scored in the bottom of the eighth off Jose Cadenas who reached on an error. Nicholas Winkelmeyer doubled to right-center that scored Urso and Cadenas | 7-1 Tampa.
