TAMPA, Fla. - The top-ranked University of Tampa baseball team split a twin-bill on Saturday against visiting Saint Leo University, taking two of three in the Sunshine State Conference series over the Lions.
Game One -- Final Score: No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans (6), Saint Leo University Lions (3)
Game Two -- Final Score: Saint Leo University Lions (7), No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans (3)
Records: Tampa (22-3, 8-1 SSC), Saint Leo (18-9, 6-6 SSC)

All-Time Series: Tampa now leads the series, 136-45, over the Lions. UT has won 23 a total of 23 consecutive series over Saint Leo
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game One):
Michael Paul had a 1-2-3 top of the first. Jordan Lala stole second base in the bottom of the first and E.J. Cumbo drove him in with a single up the middle l 1-0 Tampa. Nieman tied up the game with an RBI double in the top of the second l 1-1. Lala drove in a run with a hit by pitch with the bases loaded l 2-1 Tampa. Saint Leo committed an error allowing a run to score l 3-1 Tampa. E.J. Cumbo drove in a run with a sac fly l 4-1 Tampa. Giovanny Lorenzo drove in J.D. Urso with an RBI single in the bottom of the third l 5-1 Tampa. Coumoulos hit a two-run home run l 5-3 Tampa. Dan Sullivan smoked an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth l 6-3 Tampa.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Cumbo had a single and two RBI.
- Winkelmeyer collected two hits and a walk.
- Paul went 6.0 IP with four strikeouts, and two earned runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game Two):
Lorenzo hit a ground ball that turned into a run-scoring error l Tampa 1-0. Nick Long found himself in a based-loaded jam in the top of the third. Crail hit a sac fly with the bases loaded to tie the game l 1-1. Lala drove in two with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh l 3-1 Tampa. Sparling hit a two-run home run to give the Lions the lead l 4-3 Lions. Cumbo gunned a runner down at the plate to keep the game tied. l 4-3 Lions. Anderson hit a three-run home run to put the Lions up by four l 7-3 Lions.
INSIDE THE STATS:

- Long went 6.0 IP with eight strikeouts, and an earned run.
