The Spartans cracked open the scoring in the top of the second with a Luke Glancy single to right | 1-0 Tampa. In the bottom half of the second Haden Erbe got out of a jam, leaving two Eagles' runners in scoring position that kept them off the scoreboard. E.J. Cumbo grounded out in the third to score Jordan Lala | 2-0 Tampa. Erbe left a runner stranded at third in the fifth, that kept the Spartans' lead to two heading into the sixth.
