All-Time Series: The Spartans now only lead 110-108 against the Mocs from Lakeland.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Five straight scoreless frames of baseball began the game. The Mocs finally got to the Spartans in the T6th, Chevalier singled to left field to start off the innning. The next batter hit a chopper back to Haden Erbe, who turned to second the get the lead runner and Drew Ehrhard couldn't quite get a handle on it and both runners were safe. Hunter singled through the left side which scored one | 1-0 Southern. Erbe struckout the next batter swinging. The Mocs scored three more runs with one out in the T6th with two singles | 4-0 Southern. The final run of the inning came from a dropped-third strike | 5-0 Southern. Tampa had left a couple runners stranded in the late innings and couldn't get one across | FINAL: 5-0 Southern.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tampa only had two hits on the night.
- Erbe received his first loss of the year moving him to 8-1, he went 5.2 IP, only allowing 3 ER, and 11 K's.
- Madej went 8.0 IP, 2 H, 5 K's, and threw 126 pitches in his win to move him to 6-1 on the year.
Up Next: The series finale doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, which will be senior day for the Spartans.
