
Alex Canney Named SSC Pitcher of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa pitcher Alex Canney has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office.
Canney takes Pitcher of the Week for his outing at Rollins last week. The true freshman righty went 6.0 innings with no runs allowed, one walk, and gave up two hits. The Valrico, Florida native struck out five and held opposing batters to a .105 average in a losing effort.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of May 2 - 8, 2022. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
