Tampa Falls to Nova Southeastern in Day Two of NCAA South Region Tournament

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa drops second game of NCAA South Regional to Nova Southeastern.

Final Score: No. 28 Nova Southeastern Sharks 9, No. 2 University of Tampa Spartans 3

All-Time Series: After sweeping the regular season series, Tampa still holds a 51-22 all-time lead, despite dropping this afternoon's matchup. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The first scoring opportunity presented itself for Tampa in the top of the third inning, but were unable to do so after grounding into an inning-ending double play with two runners on. Top 3 | 0-0 Tie

• The game was scoreless through two innings until a sacrifice fly drove in the opening run of the ballgame for Nova Southeastern. Bottom 3 | 1-0 Nova 

• Tampa looked to even the score as Jordan Lala hit a leadoff double that bounced off the wall to start off the top of the fourth. Dan Sullivan would continue his hot tournament start as he hit a moonshot to right field, giving him his fourth homerun in two days. Top 4 | 2-1 Tampa

• The Tampa lead did not last long as Nova Southeastern led off the inning with a first-pitch home run. They would also go on to hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead to five. Bottom 5 | 7-2 Nova

• Ehrhard would hit a no-doubt solo home run down the left field line in the top of the sixth, but Nova would push the lead back to five in the bottom half of the inning. Top 6 | 8-3 Nova

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Ehrhard went 1-for-4 with a homerun in the top of the sixth

• Sullivan went 1-for-4 with a homerun 

• Lala had a hit in three at-bats, scoring a run on a double

OUTSIDE THE BOX:

• Dan Sullivan has hit four homeruns over the past two days with his towering homer tonight
