
NCBWA Recognizes Four Spartans in All-America Release
PEMBROKE, N.C. – A total of four University of Tampa baseball players were recognized as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its All-American teams.
Braydon Nelson was recognized as a first-team All-American, while Haden Erbe was selected a second-team All-American. J.D. Urso and Drew Ehrhard were also listed as honorable mention selections.
Nelson, a senior from Brecksville, Ohio, was also recognized as a first-team All-American by D2CCA. UT's top reliever concluded the season with one of the nation's top ERAs. Nelson appeared in 24 games this season, going 6-1 with a team-leading 11 saves. He pitched 60.1 innings in relief, striking out 63.
Erbe, a senior from Lafayette, La., was a first-team D2CCA All-American and the organization's South Region Pitcher of the Year. He was 12-2 with a 2.77 ERA in his first season as a Spartan. In 94.1 innings, Erbe struck out 117 opposing hitters.
Urso, a native of Tampa, Fla., was also a first-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection and the league's Freshman of the Year. He finished the regular season as the top hitter in the SSC and concluded his freshman campaign with a .363 average, slugging four home runs with 40 RBI.
Ehrhard, a graduate student, was recognized as a utility player as he spent the season at numerous positions for the Spartans. He would produce in every role, hitting .325 with six home runs and 44 RBI. He currently ranks in the program's top-10 in all-time hits and runs.
