
Haden Erbe, Braydon Nelson Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The 2022 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-America Teams have been released, with University of Tampa pitchers Haden Erbe and Braydon Nelson each earning recognition. The awards were announced at the Opening Banquet of the NCAA Division II College World Series Friday night in Cary, North Carolina. The 2022 All-America Teams feature nine student-athletes participating in this year's NCAA DII College World Series.
Erbe, a senior from Lafayette, La., found a spot on the second team. He was a first-team D2CCA All-American and the organization's South Region Pitcher of the Year, and a second-team NCBWA All-American. He was 12-2 with a 2.77 ERA in his first season as a Spartan. In 94.1 innings, Erbe struck out 117 opposing hitters.
Nelson, a senior from Brecksville, Ohio, was chosen to the third team. He was also recognized as a first-team All-American by both D2CCA and NCBWA. UT's top reliever concluded the season with one of the nation's top ERAs. Nelson appeared in 24 games this season, going 6-1 with a team-leading 11 saves. He pitched 60.1 innings in relief, striking out 63.
ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region First Team selections, which were announced on Wednesday, were nominated for All-America honors. In all divisions, the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams will be announced on Wednesday, June 22, followed by the ABCA National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year on Monday, June 27.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and High School. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Rudy Garbalosa of Lynn University. Also on the committee are Randy Betten (Cal Poly Pomona), Jamie Detillion (Grand Valley State University), Jim Gantt (Catawba College), Rick Giannetti (Dominican College), Dave Hajek (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs), Alex Koch (Wayne State College) and Joe Spano (Mercyhurst University).
