#1 Travels to the Peach State

Tampa will have their first road test this weekend as they travel to The Peach State to take on Georgia College.

• The Spartans had another impressive weekend, this time on home turf. They outscored #12 Newberry 44-5 in the three-game series sweep. Alex Canney showed he is one of the nation's best on the mound, going 5 strong, striking out 5, and not allowing an earned run on Friday night's start. Canney later was named SSC Pitcher of the Week. Saturday, the Spartans were contagious to getting on base with 19 hits and 9 walks, resulting in 24 runs. Sunday, an E.J. Cumbo show went 3-5 at the plate with 3 RBIs. After outscoring all preseason ranked top 25 opponents 90-15, Tampa earned their spot at the top of the NCBWA week 2 national poll. The #1 Spartans will travel to Milledgeville, Ga. to take on Georgia College for their first road test as the nation's best.

Georgia College

• After a 4-0 start to their season, the Bobcats dropped three straight in St. Petersburg against Eckerd; however, they bounced back yesterday as they took care of business against Albany State. The Bobcats will be full for their next two opponents as they take the nation's top two teams in #1 Tampa and #2 North Greenville.
