MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The #1 University of Tampa Spartans took care of business over Georgia College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Despite the bats being quiet early in the game, one swing changed that. After singles by Stephen Klein, Anthony Nunez, and Brayden Woodburn receiving a walk, Santiago Garavito worked the opposing pitcher to a 3-2 count before drawing ball four for Tampa's first run of the night. Mike Valdez followed with a rope over the left-field wall for a grand slam. Top 4 | 5-1 Tampa
- After a leadoff walk by Danny Gutcher, Tampa played small ball. E.J. Cumbo would single on a bunt. Jake Griffith would sacrifice bunt Gutcher and Cumbo over. Klein then brought home Gutcher with a sac fly, followed by an RBI single from Nunez. Top 5 | 7-5 Tampa
- Garavito, Nico Saladino, and Gutcher would all get on base, plunked by pitches. Cumbo followed with an RBI single, and Griffith followed with a walk. Top 6 | 9-5 Tampa

ON THE MOUND:
- Alex Canney struggled at the start of his third season. He pitched 4 innings, striking out 5, but giving up 7 hits and 4 runs.
- Eli Thurmond relieved Canney and did not disappoint. He went five strong, pickups up his first win of the season, striking out 6 and giving up only 1 run on 3 hits.
