
Anthony Nunez Named SSC Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - After leading the University of Tampa to a sweep over Florida Tech in its Sunshine State Conference weekend series, University of Tampa thrid basemen Anthony Nunez was recognized as the SSC Player of the Week.
Nunez is selected as Player of the Week for his performance in a sweep of Floria Tech. The junior from Hialeah, Florida, was 7-for-11 at the plate with three home runs and a double. He scored seven times and drove in seven runs during Tampa's three games against the Panthers last week.
Nunez average two hits, a run scored, and an RBI in all three games. He added two stolen bases and three walks to his weekly stat sheet. The infielder's top game of the series was the finale, where he went 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, four RBI, three runs scored, two stolen bases, and a walk.
The junior finished the week with a .636 batting average, a .692 on-base percentage, and a 1.545 slugging percentage. Defensively, Nunez recorded a putout and nine assists in 10 attempts.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 8 - April 14, 2024. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
