No. 1 Spartans Sweep the Bobcats
TAMPA, FLA. – The #1 University of Tampa Spartans sweep Georgia College in their first series of the season.
Final: #1 Tampa 10, #13 Georgia College 2

All-Time Series: The Spartans are now 63-23 over the Bobcats, winners of nine straight, and 9-1 in their last 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a lead-off double off of Edgardo Villegas's bat for the Spartan's first hit of the game, J.D. Urso followed with a double down the right field line to bring home Villegas. End 1 | 2-0 Tampa
- Jordan Williams would lead off the inning with a home run to left field for his first long ball of the season. Villegas would follow with a walk. Once again, Urso would repeat what he did in the first inning by bringing in Villegas; however, this time, he ran around the bases with Villegas with a blast to left field for his first home run of the season. Kevin Karstetter would follow with a double and then later come around to score on a Mike Valdez groundout. End 3 | 6-0 Tampa
- With one out in the inning, Cole Russo would double to get a runner-in-scoring position for the Spartans. Williams would follow with an RBI single to center field to extend Tampa's lead. Williams would come around to score later in the inning on a wild pitch. End 4 | 8-0 Tampa
- Santiago Garavito and Dennis McCaffery would both bring home a Spartan with sacrifice fly-outs. End 7 | 10-1 Tampa
AT THE PLATE:
- Urso: 2-2, BB, 3 RBI's, & 2 R's
- Williams: 2-3, 2 RBI's, & 2 R's
- Villages: 2-3, BB, & 2 R's
ON THE MOUND:
- Jake Stipp started on the mound. He threw 4 scoreless innings while striking out 3. Stipp recorded his first win of the season.
- Ryan Stefiuk came in relief for Stipp. He threw 2 innings, giving up 1 run while striking out 3.
- Logan Wash came in relief for Stefiuk. He threw 2 scoreless innings while striking out 2.
- Jacob Fletcher came in relief for Wash. He pitched the ninth inning and gave up 1 run.
