No. 1 Tampa Travels Back Home to Host Quincy For Three Games

WEEK 3

TAMPA, FL. – The #1 University of Tampa baseball team travels back home to host a series against Quincy.

Matchup: #1 Tampa vs. Quincy

Location: University of Tampa Baseball Field | Tampa, FL.

All-Time Series: Tampa and Quincy have met five times before this upcoming weekend, with Tampa leading 3-2 in the all-time matchup; however, Quincy took two of three last time the two faced each other early in the 2023 season.

Friday, Feb. 14, 6:00 P.M.

Saturday, Feb. 15, 3:00 P.M.

Sunday, Feb. 16, 12:00 P.M.

Tampa (5-1)

• The Spartans traveled to Montevallo, Alabama, to take on Montevallo University for a three-game set over the weekend. After securing an early 2-0 lead, the Spartans gave up five unanswered runs to drop the series' first game; however, Tampa bounced back, taking games two and three to secure the series. The Spartans collected 14 hits in game two, including multi-hit games from Jhoander Irigoyen, Jordan Williams, Brayden Woodburn, Cole Russo, Lenny Ashby, and Edgardo Villegas. The Spartans broke a 6-6 tie in the top of the 8^th inning with a sacrifice fly by Kevin Karstetter and Michael Alfonso, the door closing out the bottom of the 9^th in a 1-2-3 order. In game three, Jake Stipp was brilliant on the mound, throwing 5 innings of 1-run baseball and only giving up 3 hits. He improved his record to 2-0 on the season. J. Williams had himself a game at the plate going 4-5, including 2 home runs, 7 runs batted in, and scoring 2 runs. J. Williams and the Spartans look to continue to keep scoring runs and putting up productive at-bats as they move onto this upcoming weekend with a three-game series against Quincy.

Quincy (1-2)

• The Hawks wrapped up their 2024 season with a 28-26 record and 22-14 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Hawks opened their 2025 campaign, traveling to Tennessee to take on Lincoln Memorial University. Quincy avoided getting swept, taking the final game with a final score of 6-5 after dropping the first two of the series. The Hawks will look to play spoiler as they take on #1 Tampa.
