Stipp, Fletcher, & Alfonso Shutout Quincy to Give the No. 1 Spartans the Rubber Match

All-Time Series: This was the 8^th meeting between these two programs. Tampa leads 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• After a lead-off single by Cole Russo, Jhoander Irigoyen would get hit by a pitch to give the Spartans first and second with nobody out. After Brayden Woodburn reached base on a fielder's choice, Kevin Karstetter would also get plunked by a pitch to load the bases up. Nico Saladino would hit a fly ball to left center to bring home Russo. Maddox King followed with a double off the left-field wall to bring home Woodburn. End 2 | 2-0 Tampa
• The Spartans would get some insurance heading into the ninth. Woodburn would lead off the eight with a single. Karstette followed with a sacrifice bunt attempt that he would beat out. Saladino then walked, which set the Spartans up with the bases loaded and nobody out. Woodburn would then come into score on a passed ball. Later in the inning, Jordan Williams would fly out to deep left to bring home Karstette. End 8 | 4-0 Tampa

ON THE MOUND:

• Jake Stipp started on the mound. He threw 5 scoreless innings while striking out 7. Stipp has now picked up 3 wins in all three of his starts.
• Jacob Fletcher came in relief for Stipp. He threw 2 scoreless innings while striking out 2 batters.
• Michael Alfonso came in relief for Fletcher. He threw 2 scoreless innings while striking out 3 batters. Alfonso is now 3 for 3 in save situations this season.
