Day-Night Doubleheader Sweep For No. 1 Tampa Over Davenport

TAMPA, FL. – The #1 University of Tampa Spartans sweep the Davenport Panthers in a day-night doubleheader.

Final (Game 1): #1 Tampa 1, Davenport 0

Final (Game 2): #1 Tampa 5, Davenport 0

Records: #1 Tampa (13-2), Davenport (7-3)

All-Time Series: This was the 3^rd meeting between these two programs. Tampa is undefeated over Davenport.

GAME ONE

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Lenny Ashby would lead off the inning by hitting a rocket to the center fielder that would fall in front of the Davenport fielder. He would then miss play the ball that would get by him and roll all the way to the wall which would lead to Ashby getting to third base. Kevin Karstetter would follow with a single the other way through the right side to bring home Ashby. End 2 | 1-0 Tampa

AT THE PLATE:

• J.D. Urso: 1-3 & BB, & 2 R's

ON THE MOUND:

• C.J. Williams started on the mound. He threw 7 scoreless innings while striking out 10. Williams picked up his third win and is now 3-1 in the season.
• Michael Alfonso came in relief for Williams. He threw 2 scoreless innings while striking out 1 and picking up his 4^th save on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Nico Saladino would lead off the inning with a triple. Jordan Williams would bring him in with a sacrifice fly. End 3 | 1-0 Tampa
• After a leadoff walk by Cole Russo, Karstetter would single to set the Spartans up in business. Santiago Garavito would follow with a walk to load the bases up. Saladino would hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Russo. End 4 | 2-0 Tampa
• J. Williams missed a homerun by a couple of feet, hitting the right-field corner wall for a triple. Urso would turn around a pitch over the left field wall for his second home run of the season. End 5 | 4-0 Tampa
• After a lead-off triple by Villegas, Urso would bring him in with a sacrifice fly. End 7 | 5-0 Tampa
