Ten Runs Give No. 1 Spartans a Mid-Week Win Over St. Leo

TAMPA, FL. – The #1 University of Tampa Spartans get their tenth conference win of the season, beating St. Leo, scoring ten runs on the night. 

Final: #1 Tampa 10, St. Leo 4

Records: #1 Tampa (24-4, 9-0 SSC), St. Leo (11-18, 3-10 SSC)

Location: UTampa Baseball Field | Tampa, FL.  

All-Time Series: This was the 188^th meeting between these two programs. The Spartans are 141-47 against the Lions. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Jordan Williams let off the game with a walk and stole second. J. Williams then advanced to third on a Nico Saladino fly-out to right field. With one out, J.D. Urso doubled to left center to bring home J. Williams. End 1 | 1-0 Tampa
• Kevin Karstetter was hit with a pitch to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a passed ball. Later in the inning, Karstetter would come into score on a Saladino single. End 2 | 4-2 St. Leo 
• Brayden Woodburn singled to left field to start a Spartans rally, and he stole second. Cole Russo followed with a walk. Karstetter then reached based on a fielder's choice to third, Russo was out on the play, Woodburn advanced to third. Karstetter then stole second. Santiago Garavito grounded out to third to bring home Woodburn and Karstetter advanced to third. Jake Griffith followed, smashing his first home run of the season over the right-field wall. End 3 | 5-4 Tampa 
• Garavito singled to center to lead off the inning. With one out, J. Williams reached based on a fielder's choice and then stole second. Saladino followed with a single up the middle to bring J. Williams home. End 5 | 6-4 Tampa
• With two outs, Russo drew a walk. Karstetter then hit a fly ball to the Lion's center fielder that was dropped, and Russo would come into score on the play. End 6 | 7-4 Tampa
• Mike Valdez singled to center to lead off the inning and would come into score on a fielding error by the Lion's right fielder. End 7 | 8-4 Tampa
• With one out, Russo drew a walk. With two outs, Garavito drew a walk. Valdez followed with a double to left center to bring in Russo and Garavito. End 8 | 10-4 Tampa
