No. 1 Spartans Host Eckerd for Final Homestand
WEEK 13
TAMPA, FL. The #1 University of Tampa baseball team is back home to host their final regular season homestand, taking on a conference opponent across the bay, Eckerd.

Tampa (35-6)
- The No. 1 Spartans swept Florida Tech last weekend, improving to 35-6 on the season and 19-2 in Sunshine State Conference play, expanding to a five-game lead at the No. 1 spot in the conference rankings. The Spartans had an all-around team effort in taking three of three from the Panthers. The Spartans outscored the Panthers 21-8, collected 33 hits, and stole 16 bases in the three-game set. In game one, Edgardo Villegas led the Spartans' offense with three hits and brought in three runs. C.J. Williams received his ninth win, and Jacob Fletcher collected his third save in the series opener. In the Saturday series finale doubleheader, the Spartans ran wild, stealing 12 bases in two games, including Jordan Williams continuing to put up historic numbers on the base paths with four bags stolen and picking up his 60th on the season. Nico Saladino, Brayden Woodburn, Mike Valdez, Edgardo Villegas, Williams, & Santiago Garavito all had multi-hit games. Tampa's bullpen held the Panthers to 6.2 scoreless innings. Brayden Heidel, Michael Alfonso, and Ryan Stefiuk all threw scoreless frames. The Spartans look to continue their offensive production, excellent base-running, and outstanding bullpen work as they host Eckerd this weekend.
Eckerd (10-30)
- The Tritons are 10-30 on the season and last in the Sunshine State Conference with a 5-16 record. Eckerd has had a rough season. After taking two of three from Albany State to open the season, the Tritons lost 13 straight to Georgia College, Florida Southern, Flagler, Nova Southeastern, Davenport, and Lynn. After taking two of their next three, splitting a pair with Lynn, and taking a single game against Triffin, they were swept by Shippensburg, split a pair against American International, lost two of three to Florida Southern, Barry, and Palm Beach Atlantic before winning a mid-week matchup against Ave Maria. The Tritons have lost six of their last seven as they travel to Tampa to take on the No. 1 team in the nation.
