
Rashad Callaway Nets Top SSC Honor
TAMPA, Fla. - Following a pair of sensational efforts to conclude the regular season, University of Tampa men's basketball player Rashad Callaway capped the week with the Sunshine State Conference men's basketball Player of the Week award.
Callaway, a freshman point guard from Bayonne, N.J., led the Spartans to a pair of wins in their final games of the regular season, averaging 19.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Callaway opened the week with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in a 78-72 win over number-22 Florida Southern in Lakeland. He then tallied a career high 23 points, six assists, two steals, and a rebound in a 77-67 victory over Lynn. For the week, he shot 48 percent (14-for-29) from the field, 38 percent (3-for-8) from three-point range, and 80 percent (8-of-10) at the line.
