
Jeremy Black Chosen to Play in Division II All-Star Game
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee announced University of Tampa men's basketball player Jeremy Black among the 20 student-athletes and two coaches for the Third Annual NABC/NCAA Division II All-Star Game, to be held Friday, March 28 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Sunshine State Conference and South Region Player of the Year, Black concluded his Spartan career while averaging team highs of 18.7 points and 11.0 rebounds. He helped UT to its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2002, including its first postseason win since 2001.
"This is a complete honor to be named among these top players," says Black. "I want to thank my teammates for making this possible. Without them, none of this would be possible. I look forward to the opportunity to compete in this game."
The All-Star Game will match an East All-Star Team (with 10 student-athletes from the NCAA East, Northeast, South and South Atlantic regions) against a West All-Star Team (with 10 student-athletes from the NCAA Great Lakes, North Central, South Central and West regions).
The All-Star Game will be part of NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Elite Eight which will be held March 26, 27 and 29 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.
In the second Division II All-Star Game in 2007, the West All-Star Team defeated the East All-Stars, 97-92. Kevin Johnson of Humboldt State University finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots on his way to earning Most Outstanding Player for the West All-Stars. Christian Burns of Philadelphia University recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds to earn MOP honors for the East All-Star Team.
