
Tampa Drops Second Straight in Road Loss to Florida Tech
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa (9-7, 3-4 SSC) men's basketball team suffered a 72-62 setback at the hands of Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Tech (10-8, 2-5 SSC). The loss is the second straight for Tampa, who fell on Wednesday at Florida Southern.
The first half featured a total of 10 lead changes as the teams exchanged leads. The Panthers ended the half with the momentum, carrying a 39-33 lead to intermission.
It took the Spartans less than five minutes to re-claim the lead in the second half, beginning another series of lead changes. The Panthers took the lead for good at the 8:05 mark on a 3-pointer by Edgars Eglitis. Though Tampa was within striking distance, FIT put the game away while ending the contest on a 10-2 run.
Rashad Callaway led Tampa with 24 points as Anthony LaBruno and Johnathan Ball added 17 and 13 respectively. Ball also led Tampa with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
