
Tampa Ends Slump With Impressive Victory
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (14-10, 7-7 SSC) men's basketball team got back in the winning column with an 88-75 victory over Florida Tech (12-13, 4-10 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference matchup. UT ended its three-game losing streak while dominating the Panthers for 40 minutes.
The Spartans never trailed as it took less than seven minutes for Tampa to take a 20-2 lead. UT held the momentum for the duration as it cruised to an easy victory after leading 45-29 at the half.
Rashad Callaway led Tampa with 31 points, which matches his career high. The third time this season Callaway has totaled 31 points, he also tallied four assists and a team-high two steals.
Anothony LaBruno added 18 points while Matt Tomaszewski scored 12 off the bench for the first time this season. Arnaldo Abreu pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds as Rudy Jean led UT with six assists off the bench.
Tampa is back at home on Wednesday as it hosts Florida Southern in its final regular season home game. Game time is 7:30 p.m., at the Martinez Center.
