Rashad Callaway Named SSC Player of the Week
ORLANDO, Fla. - A double-double and a career high 45 points was enough to earn Rashad Callaway a Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week award. He joins teammate Marcus Morrison as the lone University of Tampa men's basketball players to earn the award in 2009-10.
Callaway, a junior guard from Bayonne, N.J., averaged 36.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks as the Spartans split a pair of games. In a 64-59 victory versus Saint Leo, he notched a double-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Despite his team's 85-77 loss at Lynn, Callaway poured in 45 points to go along with six assists, four rebounds, two steals, and a block. For the week, he connected on 53 percent (24-of-45) of his field goal attempts, 55 percent (12-of-22) of his three-point attempts, and 75 percent (12-of-16) of his free throws.
