
Tampa and Lynn Faceoff in Second Game of Saturday Doubleheader
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team will face Sunshine State Conference foe Lynn University in the Bob Martinez Sports Center on Saturday. The 4 p.m. contest pits the 9-10 (3-7 SSC) Spartans against the 11-10 (5-5 SSC) Fighting Knights in the second game of the men's and women's basketball doubleheader.
In Tampa's last contest, the Spartans were edged by Nova Southeastern by a score of 97-88. Rashad Calloway had 25 points on the night with nine assists and three steals, while other Anthony LaBruno added an impressive 22 points.
Lynn faced off against SSC opponent Saint Leo University on Wednesday, topping the Lions by a score of 85-67. Defensive dynamo Michel Vidal had a game high 12 rebounds and five blocks on his way to his 10th double-double of the season. The attack was led by Brandon Kennedy who had 19 points on the night.
Last year, Tampa and the Boca Raton natives split the season record at 1-1, with Lynn topping the Spartans in the last game of the regular season. The Fighting Knights hold the all-time series record against Tampa, edging the Spartans 14-12.
