Rashad Callaway Nets SSC Weekly Award

ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa men's basketball standout Rashad Callaway has been selected Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending January 17.

Callaway, a senior guard from Bayonne, N.J., led the undefeated Spartans to a pair of wins, which set a new program record with 16 consecutive victories. Callaway averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals for the week. He notched 22 points, five assists, three rebounds, and a steal in a 78-66 conference win over Saint Leo.

He then posted 24 points, six assists, three rebounds, and two steals in an 82-65 victory versus Palm Beach Atlantic. In 62 minutes of action, Callaway committed just two turnovers for an impressive 5.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. In two outings, he shot 52 percent (14-for-27) from the field, 56 percent (5-for-9) from three-point range, and a perfect 100 percent (13-for-13) at the charity stripe.
