
Second Half Play Leads No. 22 Tampa to Win
SAN JUAN, P.R. - The No. 22 University of Tampa (9-0) men's basketball team stayed undefeated with an 81-49 win over the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras in a neutral site game on Monday evening.
After taking a five point lead to the break, it was all Tampa in the second half as the Spartans outscored their opponent 43-16 in the second. UT shot 40 percent in the second half, while limiting UPRRP to a 16 percent clip.
Anthony Griffis led the Tampa offensive attack, scoring a team high 19 points. He was 7-for-9 from the field while also connecting on five 3-pointers.
Da'Markco Foster was also in double figures, scoring 15 points on an efficient 6-for-7 shooting from the floor. Vincent Cornu led UT with seven rebounds as Jon Riles had a career high 10 assists. Terrell Pritchett came off the bench to lead all Spartans with four steals.
Tampa will take Tuesday off before playing its final game in Puerto Rico on Wednesday. The Spartans will meet the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at 6 p.m. Eastern at the University of Sacred Heart. Live stats will be available through TampaSpartans.com.
