Spartans Suffer Setback To Chargers
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team (0-2) suffered a loss to The University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers (2-0) by a score of 80-64 Saturday afternoon in the UAH Challenge.
The Spartans started the game off strong, as they shot 53.6 percent from the field in the opening half of the game. With the score tied at six, at the 17:59 mark, Tampa went on a 10-0 run in the next three minutes to take the 16-6 lead.The Spartans held a 42-33 lead going into the second half of play.
Jordan Davis led all scorers in the half with 23 points, as he was 7-12 from the field, and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe.
In the second half of play the Chargers were able to cut into the Spartan lead and tie the game at 50 with 11:15 left on the clock. A Greg Gardner three-pointer at the 10:53 mark, gave UAH the lead for good.
Davis finished the game with 34 points and nine rebounds on the day. Eugene McCrory registered a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday, as they take on the Southeastern University Fire.
