Spartans Set to Welcome Southeastern for Men’s Basketball Home Opener
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's
basketball team will play its home opener on Tuesday at 7 p.m.,
against Southeastern University (Fla.) at the Bob Martinez
Athletics Center.
The Spartans are looking for their first win of the 2014-15
season after dropping a pair of games against South Region
opponents North Alabama and Alabama Huntsville. UT is coming off a
20-win season last year.
Senior point guard Jordan Davis is off to an excellent start,
averaging 27.0 points per game. He also leads the Spartans with 12
assists and two steals. Eugene McCrory, a senior transfer from the
University of Central Florida, joins his former junior college
teammate in double figures with 18.5 ppg. McCrory also leads the
Spartans with 10.5 rebounds per game and is shooting .720 from the
field.
Southeastern, who competes at the NAIA level and is a member
of The Sun Conference, enters with a 2-1 record. The Fire opened
the season with a win over Florida College and has already defeated
them twice. The loss came to the College of Coastal Georgia.
Tampa leads the all-time series over Southeastern, 6-1. In
last year's meeting, UT came away with a 78-65 victory in its
season opener. Davis led the Spartans with 13 points and 10 assists
in the game.

The Martinez Center gates will open one hour before the match.
Tickets will be available for $5 (adults, students and senior
citizens). UT students and faculty/staff will be admitted free with
a valid Spartan ID.
