Davis, McCrory Earn All-SSC Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Southern has won the SSC Regular Season title after finishing the conference season with a 15-1 record. The Moccasins have claimed six total SSC awards including Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. In total, 15 players have been recognized with All-SSC honors.
Florida Southern's Kevin Capers was selected as Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Capers joins Nick Wolf (Rollins) and DeCarlo Deveaux (Tampa) as the only SSC men's basketball players to be named Player of the Year multiple times.
Florida Tech's Corbin Jackson was named SSC Defensive Player of the Year after also winning the award in 2013-14. He's the first repeat Defensive Player of the Year since the award was established in 2008.
Florida Southern's Linc Darner has been named the SSC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in the last eight years, third consecutive. Darner joins current coaches Tom Klusman (Rollins) and Richard Schmidt (Tampa) with six SSC Coach of the Year awards, all three are still active in the league.
Newcomer of the Year belongs to Tampa's Eugene McCrory after helping Tampa to the three seed in the conference tournament. Florida Tech's Jordan Majors has been announced as the Freshman of the Year.
Kevin Capers (Florida Southern), Yunio Barrueta (Barry), Jordan Davis (Tampa), Aaron Harrison (Lynn), and Chris Page (Nova Southeastern) make up the 2014-15 All-SSC first team. Kevin Capers and Yunio Barrueta make appearances on list for the second consecutive year. Davis, Harrison, and Page were all represented on the second team last year.
