Duke Shelton Earns SSC Player of the Week Honors
Duke Shelton earns the first SSC Player of the Week honor for the Spartans
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa men's basketball player Duke Shelton was honored as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
Shelton recorded 34 defensive rebounds across three games to earn Defensive Player of the Week. In a 68-60 win over Young Harris, Shelton set a career high in rebounds with 16 (13 defensive). He added 18 points, three assists, two blocked shots, and a steal in the close victory. Against Colorado Christian, Shelton tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds (nine defensive), an assist, and a steal in the 87-69 Tampa win. To end the week, Shelton once again reached a career high in rebounds with a total of 18 (12 defensive) against Puerto Rico Bayamon. Shelton also added 15 points as the Spartans won 81-73. Tampa is now 5-2 overall, 1-0 in SSC play.
