
Spartans Welcome Eagles for Doubleheader
The men's and women's basketball teams will host Embry-Riddle University on Saturday at 2 and 4 pm.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will host the Embry Riddle Eagles Saturday afternoon starting with the women at 2:00 pm and the men at 4:00 pm.

Last Time Out (Men's): The Spartans were defeated by Palm Beach Atlantic in a tough battle. The teams started out strong, both trading leads on multiple occasions. Austin Rettig and Marcel Robinson led the first half with 11 points each, leading the Spartans to a 10 point advantage heading into halftime. After the break, the Sailfish were rejuvenated and ready to battle. PBA outshot Tampa by 14 percent and concluded the game on a 7-0 run, delivering the Spartans their first SSC loss of the season.
Last Time Out (Women's): The Spartans defeated the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic, 65-50. Tampa led for 37 minutes of the game by at least seven points. Senior Elena deAlfredo recorded 22 points while junior Karma Jeremie contributed her second double-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and was 6-9 from the field. As a team, the Spartans shot 50 percent from the field while the Sailfish only shot 34 percent. This win solidified the Spartans fourth consecutive win.
About the Spartans (Men's): UT is led offensively by junior Duke Shelton, tallying 13.8 points per game. He is closey followed by sophomore Pat Bacon and senior Rettig with 13.3 and 11.8, respectively. Shelton leads the SSC in rebounds with 11.6 per game and in second place for blocked shots with 1.8 per game. As a team, the Spartans are second in conference for defensive rebounds with 27.4 per game and first in conference for blocked shots averaging 3.88 per game.
About the Spartans (Women's): The Spartans are led offensively by senior deAlfredo who is second in the SSC for points per game with 15.3. She is followed by junior Jeremie and Faith Sanders with 12.7 and 11.4, respectively. As a team, the Spartans are averaging 676. points per game and have a 48.6 field goal percentage.
About the Eagles (Men's): Dalton Barnes and Skyler Hogan lead the Eagles offensively averaging 16.6 and 15.6 points per game, respectively. As a team, ERAU is shooting 45.8 percent from the field and collecting 42.3 rebounds per game.The Eagles are averaging 5.9 steals per game and 6.1 blocks per game.
About the Eagles (Women's): Sabrina Whiting leads the Eagles with 94 points averaging 13.4 points per game. Mercedes Jorge is the second leading point scorer for ERAU with 71 points and 10.1 per game. As a team, the Eagles are averaging 37 rebounds per game and shooting 39 percent from the field.

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
Admission will be free for those who bring canned goods and non-perishable items for donations.
