Duke Rules the Court in Spartans Victory
The University of Tampa men's basketball team hosted the PBA Sailfish and defeated them 90-77.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Sailfish notched the first points of the half with two free throws after the Spartans were fouled. Senior Duke Shelton scored the first for the Spartans on a layup assisted by Anthony Gamble. The Spartans and the Sailfish traded points and leads until the two minute mark when Tampa went up by as many as 10 points. The Sailfish made a run in the last two minutes and came within six points heading into halftime, 38-32. Gamble led all Spartans in the first half with 13 points. Shelton led the team with five rebounds and one block.
2nd Half | The second half started with a three point jump shot from Gamble, putting the Spartans back up by nine. After trading baskets, the Spartans increased their lead to 17 points with nine minutes left in the game. The Sailfish fought back within 10 points of the Spartans with two minutes left in the game but the Spartans were able to hold on to the lead for the win, 90-77. In the second half alone, Shelton led all Spartans with 21 points.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Shelton led all Spartans with 29 points, 17 rebounds, and one block.
- Gamble added 22 points, notching a 54.5 three point field goal percentage.
- Bacon added 15 points and six rebounds
- As a team, the Spartans shot 54.2 percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the line.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Shelton recorded his ninth double-double of the season for the Spartans.
