HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Fighting Knights started strong and quickly built a double-figure lead that swelled to 23 points with just under seven minutes to play until halftime. The Spartans would cut the deficit to 12 points at the half, 42-30. Pat Bacon led all Spartans with 10 points in the half, as the Spartans shot just 29.2 percent from the field. Lynn outrebounded Tampa 25-10 in the half as the Fighting Knights shot 50 percent from the field.
2nd Half | Bacon and Marcel Robinson accounted for 21 of Tampa's 26 points in the half as UT was just 1-for-9 from 3-point range in the half. The Fighting Knights would outscore UT 31-26 in the half, though UT did show improvements on the boards as it outrebounded its opponent 18-15.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Bacon led the Spartans in scoring with 20 points.
- Robinson added 13 as he and Bacon were the lone Spartans in double figures. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
- Alberto Moreno came off the bench to lead the team with three assists.
- Making the start, Mekhi Biffle has a team-leading five steals.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Sophomore Nygel Blake made his UT debut while logging a minute of action.
- Bacon turned in his second straight 20-plus point performance and ninth of his junior campaign.
