Derrick Felder Receives SSC Defensive Player of the Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - After leading the University of Tampa to a pair of road victories, Derrick Felder was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Felder takes Defensive Player of the Week honors for his play in a pair of Tampa victories last week. The senior from Yonkers, New York, tallied two blocks, three steals, and seven defensive rebounds as the Spartans defeated Saint Leo, 88-80, on the road. Felder followed with three steals and six defensive rebounds in a 92-72 road win at Florida Tech. Offensively, the guard scored 19 points and distributed 23 assists. Felder's 15 assist effort against Florida Tech ties him in the SSC single-game records for fifth all-time.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of January 3 - 9, 2022. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
