Tampa Falls to #1 Nova Southeastern

Tampa, FL. – The University of Tampa Spartans Men's Basketball Team falls to an impressive Nova Southeastern Sharks.

Final: Nova Southeastern Sharks 115, Tampa Spartans 77

Records: Tampa (8-16, 7-11 SSC), Nova Southeastern Sharks (25-0, 18-0 SSC)

Location: Bob Martinez Center || Tampa, Fl. 

All-Time Series: Nova has won 11 straight against the Spartans and improved their record to 27-19 over the Spartans.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

FIRST HALF 

After Nova started the scoring, Tampa scored five straight thanks to Jacob Harris and De'Andre Harvey. The following three minutes would become back-and-forth basketball, and the Sharks would tie it at 12 eventually. After eight lead changes and six ties for the next ten minutes, the Sharks took a commanding 50-43 lead. Harris would cut the lead to 4 with a little under a minute left in half; however, the Sharks would score a late basket to extend their lead going into halftime. | Score: 52-46 Nova Southeastern

SECOND HALF 

It was all Nova Southeastern in the second half. They opened the half on an 11-2 run. Eventually, the Shark's largest lead went up to 16. Luckily the Spartans cut it to 10 due to a Jesse White 3-pointer. However, the Sharks showed why they are the number one team in the nation, going on a 16-2 run in the following 5 minutes to extend their lead to 23. After that moment, there wasn't a chance for the Spartans to catch up. | Score: 115-77 Nova Southeastern

INSIDE THE STATS 

• Three Spartans scored double figures: Senior Mykah Brown (20), Sophomore De'Andre Harvey (17), and Sophomore Jesse White (17).
• The Spartans shot 82% from the line making 22 of their 27 attempts.
• Both teams shot 39% from behind the arch.

BEYOND THE BOX

• The Spartans had 28 bench points compared to the Sharks' 37.
• Fourteen lead changes throughout the game.
• Nova had 40 rebounds, while Tampa had 21
