Spartans Drop 100 points in Win Over Puerto-Rico Mayaguez
Tampa, Fla – The University of Tampa Men's Basketball team took the floor today to face Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: Tampa dominated the first half with a commanding performance fueled by relentless offensive rebounding and opportunistic defense. Early in the game, Tampa capitalized on second-chance opportunities with Amarion Nimmers and Tyson Leitao converting key layups. Tampa's defensive pressure forced numerous turnovers, which led to fast-break points, including a jumper by Cole Gingeleski. Kaden Froebe and Ryan Blount knocked down critical three-pointers, widening Tampa's lead and showcasing their shooting range. Tampa's balanced attack, featuring contributions from multiple players like Leitao, Trey Lane, and Kyler Lamb, helped extend the lead to over 20 points. The half concluded with a buzzer-beating three-pointer by
Bryan Williams.

SECOND HALF: Tampa continued their dominance in the second half with strong performances on both ends of the court, extending their lead significantly. Leitao and Lane set the tone early with efficient layups, capitalizing on Puerto Rico turnovers. Tampa's sharp three-point shooting, led by Froebe, Williams, and Isaiah Young, helped maintain a wide margin. Aggressive rebounding, particularly by Grady Schwartz and Zach Johnson, created numerous second-chance opportunities, converting into points that stifled any Puerto-Rioc comeback attempts. Tampa's bench players made impactful contributions, with Jaxon Toney and B.J. Schaeffer adding energy and precision in the final minutes. The game concluded with Tampa firmly in control, securing a decisive victory fueled by teamwork and balanced scoring.
